if we put armando, gene hunt and steve pointdexter together in a room with a few synthesizers, some rhythm boxes, a roland 606 and a few cans of beer, what we would get is shrimp traxx. this very young, practically unknown austrian artist has just made his recording debut on bons records with five tracks that range in style from classic to trippy, psychotic acid house. these five jam sessions, made 100% using hardware, are now appearing on the catalan label. after an ep with a markedly 90s house sound, bons records is now turning towards more ghetto vibes with a record to be spun and danced to exclusively in a house club. this is not warm-up stuff!

it is very difficult to present david duriez without writing an encyclopedic tome as its influence on the house music in france was decisive. since its inception in 1992, david released over a hundred records under his name, tens under various pseudonyms, mainly on vinyls on the most renowned labels like 2020vision, ovum, systematic, pokerflat, f communication, under the counter, stickman, crosstown rebels, the end, etc .. few would challenge the claim that the 1960s and 70s have been the most fertile two decades in the history of popular music ever - a period which, regardless of genre, laid the foundations for everything that has followed. what is more, this period was so fertile that the speed with which tastes changed left a colossal amount of incredible music to gather dust - perhaps most famously a profusion of funk, soul and jazz. it was a musical legacy that lay mouldering until the rise of sampling in late 80s hip-hop precipitated a mad scramble for lost crates and suddenly, the music that became known as rare groove - for obvious reasons (it was rare and very groovy) - experienced a phoenix-like rebirth. a quarter of a century on and a million funk, soul, jazz-funk and rare groove compilations, re-presses and re-releases later, you d think that cupboard was bare and yet, even now, there are gems to be found. pt is re-releasing the rarest of cuts that often were originally only limited runs or private pressings and new compilation down & wired is just such a collection. always soulful, this features everything from mod groovers and northern stompers, to funky bumps and latin heaters. yet while the quality of all cuts is immediately apparent, only one of the eleven has ever been previously been compiled because when pt do rare, they dont mess around. in fact, if these tracks were steaks they d still be walking around eating grass.

finally, justus köhncke is unveiling new tracks! his first release since justus köhncke & the wonderful frequency band (kompakt, 2013) is both daring and serious. five songs in german, interpretations of material by howard carpendale, juliane werding and nik p. plus english-into-german translations of two pop classics (twist in my sobriety by tanita tikaram, captain of her heart by double). this is not an ironic joke about seemingly stupid music or schlager: köhncke embraces these five compositions and turns them into his own. they transmutate into his very own vision of nu-german comps-soul� while retaining justus unique sound.

belgium based fabrice lig is nothing else than a phenomenon of techno music. the list of high profile imprints where he released his music, like planet e, r&s, kms, third ear and playhouse is unique. marc romboy: �i m very proud and glad that i could sign such a legendary artist to my label. i m playing all three tracks in every set and wish there would be more real techno music like this.�

label owner, christian gerlach recruited the young and very talented alfredo mazzilli, which already showed his skills with his latest releases on edit select records or planet rhythm. in the ep, which is dedicated to the babylonian gods, alfredo takes us into worlds of sound that reminds us of a run through the jungle and arrivals at mighty temples. shamash opens the ep and prepares the mood for an ritual which is gonna to be celebrated. wrong assessment focuses the piece in its core, but in a deeper way and holds on to a heavy baseline. ishtar reminiscent of an ceremony and the ep reaches its climax which is also continued in the iori remix. the high­energy piece marduck could be considered as an joyfully extract from this distant world. with this packet lanthan audio combines the heavy architecture of old temples, but with an ease that welcomes the coming months with joyful anticipation.
